Setup Guide

Get SportDataIQ up and running in your Discord server in just a few minutes.

Step 1: Add Bot to Discord Server

Invite SportDataIQ to your Discord server to start accessing live sports data.

  1. Visit sportdataiq.com
  2. Click the "Add to Discord" button
  3. Select your Discord server from the dropdown
  4. Authorize the required permissions (View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Use Slash Commands)
  5. Complete the verification if prompted by Discord

💡 Tip: You need "Manage Server" permission in your Discord server to add bots.

Step 2: Use the Bot in Discord

Once the bot is added, it's immediately ready to use! Try the interactive command:

Type this command in any text channel:

/sportdataiq

This opens an interactive control panel where you can:

  • • View Live Scores for today's games
  • • Watch Recaps with final scores and highlights
  • • Follow Transactions for signings, trades, and roster moves
  • • Check Standings and rankings
  • • Browse Leaderboards for top performers
  • • Get Sheet of the Day for daily sports betting picks

Step 3: Configure Real-Time Alerts (Optional)

Set up automatic notifications for when players score touchdowns, goals, home runs, and baskets.

Accessing the Dashboard

  1. Visit sportdataiq.com/dashboard
  2. Click "Login with Discord" and authorize access
  3. Navigate to the Settings tab at the top
  4. Scroll down to the "Your Servers" section
  5. Click on the server where the SportDataIQ bot is installed

Creating Alert Rules

  1. Navigate to the Settings tab in the header
  2. Click the "New Alert Rule" button
  3. Select a League: NFL, NCAAF, MLB, NBA, WNBA, or NHL
  4. Choose a Market Type:
    • First Scorer - First touchdown/goal/basket of the game
    • Anytime Scorer - Every touchdown/goal/home run throughout the game
  5. Select the Destination Channel where alerts will be posted
  6. Click "Create Rule" to save

Testing Your Alert

Before going live, test your alert to see exactly how it will look:

  • Find your newly created rule in the alerts list
  • Click the "Send Test" button
  • Check the configured channel in Discord for a preview alert
  • The test alert will be marked with "(Preview)" and show sample data

✅ That's it! When live games start, you'll automatically receive beautiful alerts with player photos, team logos, and full play descriptions whenever a scoring event happens.

Required Bot Permissions

SportDataIQ needs these Discord permissions to function properly:

  • ✓ View Channels - See available channels in your server
  • ✓ Send Messages - Post scores, standings, leaderboards, and alerts
  • ✓ Embed Links - Display rich embeds with player photos and team logos
  • ✓ Attach Files - Include images in messages
  • ✓ Use Slash Commands - Enable the /sportdataiq command
